CNN entertainment | Prince: Five years after his death, his beloved Minneapolis has been in turmoil

(CNN) – Wednesday marks the fifth anniversary of the death of musical icon Prince, and the world has not felt the same since he left us.

Nowhere does that feel more true than in the city he both loved and helped to put on the map, Minneapolis.

Racial strife existed in the city long before the murder of George Floyd — a fellow Black man who also adored Minneapolis. But the trial of the police officer who caused his death, coupled with police recently killing another Minnesota Black man, Daunte Wright, have heightened racial tensions and attracted a global spotlight.

In many ways it feels like Prince foretold that these days would come.  —read more

F1 REPORT – Italian 2021 | Hamilton takes 99th pole in Imola as Perez seals first front row start ahead of Verstappen

Lewis Hamilton got the job done when it mattered in a scintillating Emilia Romagna Grand Prix qualifying session, beating Red Bull’s Sergio Perez by just 0.036s at Imola, with Max Verstappen inside a tenth of a second of pole in third.

There was nothing to choose between Mercedes and Red Bull heading into the second qualifying session of the 2021 campaign, with both teams saying the other were favourites for P1 and playing down their own chances.

It was initially Valtteri Bottas who looked the most comfortable out on a track where he dominated all three segments of the one-hour shoot-out last time out at Imola, but he didn’t deliver in Q3 as his world champion team mate rose to the top of the pile with a brilliant first lap in qualifying.  —read more

A dogged work ethic has granted fashion royalty Naomi Campbell a phenomenal 35-year-long modeling and acting career, but even perennial highfliers need some R&R. Campbell takes hers in a spacious and serene East African retreat, where a turquoise saltwater pool stretches from the sunny patio right into the living room.

After a visit to Malindi, Kenya, in the 1990s left Campbell besotted, the supermodel, who at the time dominated runways for Chanel, Vivienne Westwood and Versace, bought an idyllic villa in the sleepy seaside town which has served as her circuit breaker for more than 20 years. “It’s a very calming place,” Campbell told Architectural Digest in a recent interview for the magazine’s May cover story. “You don’t really want to be on the phone. You’re not trying to find a television. You just want to read and be with yourself. It’s nice to just have the silence and the crickets.”  —read more—
