Nowadays, it seems that all the creams and serums on the shelves are anti-aging products. So, how do you know where to begin? We spoke to five dermatologists to find out what anti-aging skin care actually works and what powerhouse ingredients to look for.

As we get older, our bodies undergo tons of tiny changes that keep us moving. Because the skin is the body’s largest organ, many of these changes stare back at us in the mirror. “Many changes occur within the skin over the years that outwardly are manifested as aging,” says Dr. Carlos Charles, a board-certified dermatologist and co-founder of 4.5.6. Skin.

Some of them are healthy and completely natural, like smile lines or crow’s-feet, though Charles says that sun exposure, pollution and blue light from screen time are the most common external factors that contribute to accelerated aging. “These will gradually cause textural skin changes, hyperpigmentation and even collagen loss, which results in fine lines and wrinkles. [Plus], as we age, the skin cells tend to regenerate more slowly, leading to a duller complexion.” In other words, our skin’s ability to retain moisture, produce collagen and repair itself quickly decreases dramatically over time.  –read more–

The long-sealed files related to the FBI’s yearslong surveillance of civil rights icon Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. were released Monday by the Trump administration.

Before that, the more than 240,000 pages had never been “digitized and sat collecting dust in facilities across the federal government for decades,” the office of Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said in a statement.

In the hours since the trove of documents was made available through the National Archives and Records Administration, experts have said the files do not appear to include any major revelations.

(CNN) — Some celebrity deaths hit the Black community differently.

Such is the case with the passing of Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who died Sunday at age 54 in a drowning accident in Costa Rica, where he was on vacation with his family.

Much like the unexpected deaths of Prince, Kobe Bryant and actor Chadwick Boseman, Warner’s death is being met in much of the Black community by the type of deep grieving usually reserved for family members.

(CNN) — Earth is spinning faster this summer, making the days marginally shorter and attracting the attention of scientists and timekeepers.

July 10 was the shortest day of the year so far, lasting 1.36 milliseconds less than 24 hours, according to data from the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service and the US Naval Observatory, compiled by timeanddate.com. More exceptionally short days are coming on July 22 and August 5, currently predicted to be 1.34 and 1.25 milliseconds shorter than 24 hours, respectively.

The length of a day is the time it takes for the planet to complete one full rotation on its axis —24 hours or 86,400 seconds on average. But in reality, each rotation is slightly irregular due to a variety of factors, such as the gravitational pull of the moon, seasonal changes in the atmosphere and the influence of Earth’s liquid core. As a result, a full rotation usually takes slightly less or slightly more than 86,400 seconds — a discrepancy of just milliseconds that doesn’t have any obvious effect on everyday life.  –read more–

(CNN) — It’s been more than 20 years since Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan worked together on “Freaky Friday,” but now they have teamed up again.

The pair spoke with People about their upcoming film “Freakier Friday,” a sequel to their 2003 hit.

As they wrapped filming, Lohan noted, “It just hit me. This is where we came for our makeup test on the first movie.”

(CNN) — Vickie Moretz had never left the southern United States, let alone traveled abroad. The prospect of flying across the Atlantic was equal parts exhilarating and terrifying.

It was February 1982. Vickie was 22, a recent graduate from the University of Tennessee, en route to London to participate in a work study program.

(CNN) — Malcolm-Jamal Warner, an actor and artist who rose to fame as a child as Theodore Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” has died, according to a source close to the actor.

He was 54.

Warner died in a drowning accident in Costa Rica, where he was on vacation with his family, the source said.  –read more–
