It was the morning after the day before in Canada and traditionally, Formula 1’s drivers and their team principals would already be back home in their own beds.

But this year was a little different as most of them were at Montreal Trudeau International Airport with a boarding pass that would send them a short hop to New York City for the world premiere of F1 The Movie.

A group of them – including championship contender Lando Norris, Ollie Bearman and Nico Hulkenberg – travelled together along with CEO Stefano Domenicali on a special Qatar Airways charter plane, which was dressed with special movie memorabilia including bespoke boarding passes, popcorn boxes – with sweet and savoury options – and a vinyl of the movie soundtrack.  read more

Los Angeles (CNN) — US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents attempted to enter Dodger Stadium on Thursday but were denied entry to the grounds by the team, the Dodgers said on social media.

“This morning, ICE agents came to Dodger Stadium and requested permission to access the parking lots. They were denied entry to the grounds by the organization. Tonight’s game will be played as scheduled,” the team said in a post on X.

Video shown by affiliate KABC showed federal agents stationed on one of the streets leading up to the stadium.

The exact nature of the reason why federal agents were at Dodger Stadium was not immediately clear.  read more

Austria’s Vienna fell to joint second place on the world’s most liveable cities for 2025 ranking after receiving lower scores for stability this year.

(CNN) — It’s official. Vienna is no longer the most liveable city in the world.

After a three-year run at the top of the annual list from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the Austrian capital has been beaten out by “Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen.”

Denmark’s capital has taken the number one spot on the ranking of the world’s most liveable cities for 2025, which was released on Tuesday.

The EIU, a sister organization to The Economist magazine, ranked 173 cities around the world on a number of factors, including healthcare, education, stability, infrastructure and environment.Copenhagen triumphed after receiving “perfect” scores for stability, education and infrastructure, while Vienna tied for second place with Swiss city Zurich.  read more

New York (CNN) — Texas Instruments will invest more than $60 billion to expand semiconductor manufacturing in the United States, the company announced on Wednesday, as President Donald Trump continues to pressure tech giants like Apple and Samsung to build their products in America.

The investment will go towards seven semiconductor fabrication plants across Texas and Utah, resulting in more than 60,000 jobs, the company said in a press release. TI says it’s working with the Trump administration to help produce the critical chips that power everything from smartphones to data centers and cars domestically. It’s part of the White House’s push to keep the United States ahead of China in the technology industry while promoting American manufacturing.

TI, which partners with tech and auto giants like Apple, Nvidia and Ford, claims this is the “largest investment in foundational semiconductor manufacturing in US history.”  –read more

It had been a strong start from pole position for Russell, the Briton launching away cleanly to hold the lead from Max Verstappen. George Russell has stormed to pole position in Qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, the Mercedes man beating Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri in the final moments to take P1 on the medium tyre.

Verstappen had initially set the pace during the opening runs of Q1, but a thrilling sequence in the closing laps saw Russell topple the Red Bull driver – also on the C5 compound – by 0.160s with his effort of 1m 10.899s. Championship leader Piastri was left to settle for third in the McLaren on the soft tyres, while the other Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli slotted into fourth place.-  –read more
