F1 | What tyres will the teams and drivers have for the 2021 Mexico City Grand Prix?

Pirelli’s Mexico City GP Preview. Min starting pressures: 19.5 psi (front) | 19.5 psi (rear); EOS camber limit: -3.50° (front) | -2.00 ° (rear)

Mexico is back on the calendar for the first time since 2019 so it’s time to talk Pirelli tyres as the title battle heats up between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

After Verstappen’s brilliant United States GP win, he’s 12 points ahead of rival Hamilton heading into Mexico City, where his Red Bull team mate Sergio Perez races in front of his adoring home fans.

Pirelli have nominated the same tyres as they did for the race in Texas with hard C2s (x2), medium C3s (x3) and soft C4s (x8). This is the same selection as 2019 and one step harder than it was in 2018.  —read more

CNN Opinion | Robert Redford: What I see when I think about the future

(CNN) – There is so much I can envision for this planet. I can see a world where human and planetary health and justice are fundamental values. I can see a world where everyone has a safe place to live. Where environmental and economic injustices are addressed and repaired.

What do you see when you think about the future of our communities, our country and our world?

For me, this is the first moment in my life in which there seems to be both a will and a way to address the environmental crisis at the scale that science and justice demand. But the clock is ticking, and we need to take immediate action to achieve a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future.  —read more—

Steirereck (Vienna, Austria): This Vienna restaurant made it to No. 12 and won the Art of Hospitality Award.

(CNN) — The gentle clink of glasses, the low hum of conversation, the soft lights and appetite-whetting scents.

All were sadly missed when restaurants around the world were forced to shut their doors in 2020 and 2021, the ovens cold and the owners and workers facing an uncertain future.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards — an event considered the Oscars of the fine dining world — was also obliged to take a hiatus last year, but it’s finally back, and the two eateries at the top of the list are both in Copenhagen.  —read more—

(CNN) – Taylor Swift lit up the opening of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony Saturday with a nod to 2021 inductee Carole King, and even King had a tear in her eye.

Swift soothed the crowd with a rendition of King’s “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” wearing a lacy, black bodysuit to match the formal tone of the night.

After the first few bars, the “Cardigan” singer looked out into the crowd with a sly smile and briefly stuck out her tongue between her teeth as to let them in on a surprise.  —read more—

CNN US | Philadelphia to become first major US city to ban police from stopping drivers for low-level traffic violations

(CNN) – When Philadelphia’s mayor signs landmark legislation as soon as this week, the city will become the first major US city to ban police from stopping drivers for low-level traffic violations — stops that studies show target Black drivers at disproportionately higher rates.

The Driving Equality Bill, passed 14-2 by the city council on October 14, categorizes certain motor vehicle code violations as “primary violations,” which allow officers to pull people over in the name of public safety, and “secondary violations” that don’t meet the criteria for a lawful traffic stop, according to the office of Councilmember Isaiah Thomas, who authored the bill.

The bill will take effect 120 days after Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney signs it into law, which his office said he intends to do.  —read more—

CNN US | How the Charleston church massacre victims settlement is a symbolic blow to White supremacists

Bakari Sellers, the attorney for the victims’ families, speaks with reporters outside the Justice Department, in Washington, DC, on Thursday, October 28, 2021.

(CNN) – The $88 million settlement announced Thursday with survivors and the families of nine people fatally shot in 2015 at a historically Black church in Charleston, South Carolina, is a “big ‘F-you’ to White supremacists,” an attorney for the victims’ families said.

White supremacists have used the number “88” as a hate symbol for decades, but on Thursday, that number was reflected in the millions of dollars that the Justice Department will pay over FBI lapses that allowed Dylann Roof, an avowed White supremacist, to buy the semi-automatic pistol used in the massacre.  —read more—
