F1 | What tyres will the teams and drivers have for the 2022 Miami Grand Prix?

Pirelli have announced their tyre compound allocation for the very first Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.

F1’s tyre suppliers have chosen the middle three tyres in their range: white-banded C2 hard compounds (x2 sets), yellow-banded C3 medium compounds (x3 sets), and red-banded C4 soft compounds (x8 sets).

With expected top speeds in the region of 320km/h, 19 corners, three straights and three DRS zones, Pirelli have opted to bring the most commonly-used combination of compounds to the brand-new Miami International Autodrome. –read more–

Just think about it for a moment. When you want to buy a refrigerator, you don’t go to a Whirlpool store, then a Maytag store and a Bosch store. You go to an appliance store. And even if there is a store that only sells clothing from one company — like Gap, which only sells clothing from Gap — that store is owned and operated by Gap.

But when you want to buy a new car you have to go to different stores for different brands. The Ford store isn’t owned by Ford, though, and the Toyota store isn’t owned by Toyota. F1 | Verstappen leads Red Bull 1-2 as Ferrari falter in action-packed Imola race

Max Verstappen won a dramatic wet-dry Emilia Romagna Grand Prix over Red Bull team mate Sergio Perez as Ferrari couldn’t deliver on home turf – Charles Leclerc spinning late on to finish sixth after Carlos Sainz retired.The Dutchman topped Saturday’s Sprint and led off the line on Sunday, team mate Perez joining him at the front – while Leclerc momentarily dropped to fourth. The Safety Car emerged on the opening lap as Daniel Ricciardo tipped Carlos Sainz into the gravel and out of the race for the second Grand Prix.  –read more–

F1 | Verstappen snatches P1 from Leclerc in thrilling Imola Sprint

Max Verstappen won the first Sprint of 2022 having passed Charles Leclerc with two laps remaining, to ensure a first-place start for Sunday’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

Friday’s wet qualifying session set the grid for this Sprint, Verstappen having taken pole position over Leclerc with Lando Norris leading Kevin Magnussen off the second row. An overhauled format now sees points awarded to the top eight rather than the top three – even more incentive to give it all on Saturday afternoon, under clouds spitting with rain…  –read more–

F1 | Verstappen takes pole position in dramatic wet-dry session ahead of Sprint at Imola

Max Verstappen took pole position for Red Bull in a nailbiting qualifying session ahead of the inaugural F1 Sprint of 2022 at Imola. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took P2 after being hampered by a late red flag, while Lando Norris managed P3 on the grid for McLaren.

After Leclerc topped FP1 the rain subsided well before Friday’s qualifying session and the field emerged on soft tyres for Q1, in which he again set the fastest time to go half a second ahead of Verstappen. Q2 saw a greater threat of rain, Verstappen topping those timesheets before Sainz crashed from P2 – and then the clouds unleashed.  –read more–

New York (CNN Business) – Call Eleven and Sheriff Hopper of “Stranger Things,” because Netflix’s world has been turned upside down.

The company reported Tuesday that it lost subscribers for the first time in more than a decade. The news shocked Wall Street and sent shares plummeting 35% Wednesday morning, wiping out $50 billion in market cap. And this was after the company’s stock had dropped more than 40% year to date.

Formula 1 gets set to race in Europe for the first time in the 2022 season at Imola for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and Pirelli have announced what tyres the teams will be allocated for the first Sprint weekend of the season.

Imola, alongside Monza, is a home race for Pirelli and it will be their 18-inch tyre’s first taste of a Formula 1 Sprint – and for this Pirelli have announced a similar set of tyre compounds to those allocated to the teams in Saudi Arabia.

This weekend will see the teams allocated 12 sets of tyres instead of the usual 13, with the drivers set to be able to call upon the C2 (hard tyre, x2 sets), C3 (medium tyre, x4 sets) and C4 (soft tyre, x6 sets). Along with that, the teams will also be given six sets of green intermediate tyres and three sets of blue full wet tyres.  –read more–  

CNN BUSINESS | BMW reveals its new $120,000 electric flagship

(CNN) – Electric vehicles, with their need for lots of expensive batteries, have often trended towards luxury. Electric cars from Porsche, Mercedes, and Audi have all hit the market in recent years. BMW has come out with its own electric cars like the iX and i4 and now the new i7, a battery-powered take on the brand’s new most expensive sedan.

While BMW is probably better known for its smaller 3 Series and 4 Series cars, the 7 Series is the brand’s showpiece for luxury and technology. The i7 is the electric version of a new generation of the BMW 7 Series flagship unveiled on Wednesday.

With a starting price of $119,300, the all-wheel-drive 536 horsepower i7 xDrive60 will be able to go 300 miles on a full charge, which is less than the competing Mercedes EQS or Lucid Air. It will also offer a V8-powered gasoline version, the 760i X-drive, with the same horsepower output and a starting price that’s $300 less. It will look almost identical. A gas-powered version with a 6-cylinder engine will have a starting price of $93,300.  –read more–
