CNN Business | VW recalls 140,000 SUVs due to faulty passenger-side airbags, owners told not to let anyone ride shotgun

Volkswagen is recalling 143,000 of its big Atlas SUVs in the US because a faulty sensor on the front passenger side can switch the airbag system off under certain conditions. Until the issue can be corrected, VW is advising owners to avoid letting people ride in that seat.

The problem is “sporadic,” according to documents VW filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle recalls. –read more–

Max Verstappen claimed victory during a wild and action-packed Australian Grand Prix, overcoming battles with the Mercedes drivers, several Safety Cars and three red flags to lead home Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.

Pirelli have announced which tyres they will be bringing to this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix – matching the choice of compounds seen last time out in Jeddah.

F1 | Perez fends off Verstappen to win action-packed Saudi Arabian GP as Alonso takes 100th podium

Sergio Perez converted pole position into victory at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix as team mate Max Verstappen recovered from P15 to make it successive one-two finishes for Red Bull. Fernando Alonso put his Aston Martin on the podium again with a fine drive, before being stripped of P3 and then having it reinstated after a stewards’ review.

Perez overcame an attack from Alonso at the start, a nervy Safety Car period and Verstappen’s charge from the midfield to make up for the potential win he lost at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit a year ago – kick-starting his 2023 championship hopes in the process.  –read more–

F1 | Verstappen leads 1-2 in Bahrain season opener as Leclerc retires and Alonso takes final podium place in style

Red Bull enjoyed a perfect start to the season in the 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix as Max Verstappen cruised to victory over team mate Sergio Perez – while Fernando Alonso finished third as Charles Leclerc retired from the race.

Everyone bar hard-shod Kevin Magnussen (P15) began the race on soft tyres and Verstappen had a solid getaway, but team mate Perez fell back and lost second place to Leclerc – while Carlos Sainz couldn’t quite pry P3 off the Red Bull. The reigning champion stretched his legs in the lead and eventually won by more than 10 seconds. Perez completed the one-two with both Red Bull drivers on similar soft-soft-hard strategies.  –read more–
