CNN Opinion | This is the best way to honor John Lewis’ legacy
(CNN) – There is a bridge in Selma, Alabama, where the 25-year-old John Lewis nearly died
during the 1965 “Bloody Sunday” march. This bridge, named after
Edmund Pettus — a Confederate general and leader of the Alabama Ku Klux Klan
— spans the reality of America’s racist foundations and the dream of a just country.
The bridge should have been renamed long ago. Pettus was a domestic terrorist
who fought in a traitor army for the right to claim ownership of human beings.
Children aren’t brought to Edmund Pettus Bridge to learn about him; families now make the
pilgrimage to teach the next generation that men like him can and did lose.
That while these men wielded hideous and violent power, there were very brave
people who linked arms and faced that violence together in their demand for
justice. That heroes like Lewis put on his best $5 suit, along with his trench
coat and backpack and fought for Black voting rights. —more—
Mercedes-AMG’s Lewis Hamilton wins the FORMULA 1 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX 2020, this is his eighth time winning in Hungary. Hamilton started on Pole for the 90th time. Before the race started the Red Bull Racing Honda team had to do an emergency repair on Max Verstappen’s car that received damage after Verstappen left the track and hit a wall during warm up laps damaging his front left suspension. The Red Bull pit crew did their magic with only seconds to spare before the start of the race, their efforts paid off in a big way with Verstappen finishing 2nd, in front of Mercedes-AMG’s Valtteri Bottas who finished 3rd after starting on the front row. As the race started, Bottas had an indicator light go off on his dashboard that distracted and he did not get off to a good start. Sebastian Vettel for Ferrari finished in the points while his teammate Charles Leclerc did not. Due to track conditions, at the start of the race none of the drivers started on slicks, 18 of the drivers were on Intermediates (green) and 2 drivers started on Full Wets (blue). By Lap 4 the track conditions had changed enough that all drivers that had not already done so came in for an early tire change to put on slicks.

It was all looking rosy for Mercedes as they ran comfortably one-two in the season-opening Austrian GP, that is until they encountered gearbox problems which forced them to tell both Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton to steer well clear of the Red Bull Ring’s tricky kerbs. CNN Sports | Formula One drivers divided as several choose not to kneel in support of Black Lives Matter movement
(CNN) The Formula
One grid was divided ahead of the sport’s return as several drivers, including
Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen, chose not to kneel in support of the Black
Lives Matter movement.
All 20 drivers congregated on the start line before the Austrian Grand Prix,
the first race of the season following the three-month delay due to the coronavirus
pandemic.
Lewis Hamilton, who has been using his sizable platform to speak out against
racial and social injustice, knelt on the front line wearing a Black Lives
Matter T-shirt, while the rest of the drivers had “End Racism”

CNN Business | Netflix is investing $100 million in Black-owned banks
New York (CNN Business) – Netflix (NFLX) on
Tuesday said it would invest in Black-owned banks in an effort to help close
the wealth gap between Black and White America.
The streaming service announced plans to deposit 2% of its cash, or an
estimated $100 million, into Black-owned financial institutions and
community development organizations, which have a better track record of
lending to minority borrowers than mainstream consumer banks.
Minority-owned banks and credit unions represent just 1% of America’s total commercial banking assets. —more—
CNN – A Starbucks barista who was publicly shamed by a
customer after asking her to wear a face mask has received nearly $80,000 in
virtual tips after a Facebook post that criticized him went viral.
Lenin Gutierrez, 24, was working his usual shift
at a San Diego Starbucks on a Monday morning when a woman — who was not
wearing a mask — walked in and attempted to place an order, he told CNN.
Gutierrez asked her if she had a face mask — but before he was even able to
show her company guidelines requiring customers to wear one, the woman flipped
him off and “started cursing up a storm,” he said. —more—
CNN Business | Microsoft is closing all of its stores
New York
(CNN Business) – Microsoft
is getting out of the brick-and-mortar retail business.
The company announced Friday it will close down all of its 83 physical stores
and switch to online only.
It will keep its London; New York City; Sydney, Australia and Redmond, Washington locations, but they will be reimagined as
“experience centers,” the company stated. They will showcase
Microsoft’s technology, such as Surface PCs, Xbox, “Minecraft,”
Windows and Office, but they won’t necessarily sell anything.
The tech giant opened a bunch of locations in high-profile areas, such as Manhattan’s Fifth Ave. But during the pandemic, many of its stores
have remained closed, and Microsoft (MSFT) is
abandoning ship. —more—

Formula One into a global, billion-dollar business with races in all corners of
the world, but like many organizations, the sport he helped create has come
under scrutiny following George Floyd’s death.
Notably from Lewis Hamilton, a six-time world champion and the first and only
Black driver to compete in F1, who has been a powerful voice following Floyd’s
