CNN travel | World’s most liveable city for 2025 revealed
(CNN) — It’s official. Vienna is no longer the most liveable city in the world.
After a three-year run at the top of the annual list from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the Austrian capital has been beaten out by “Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen.”
Denmark’s capital has taken the number one spot on the ranking of the world’s most liveable cities for 2025, which was released on Tuesday.
The EIU, a sister organization to The Economist magazine, ranked 173 cities around the world on a number of factors, including healthcare, education, stability, infrastructure and environment.Copenhagen triumphed after receiving “perfect” scores for stability, education and infrastructure, while Vienna tied for second place with Swiss city Zurich. –read more–

New York (CNN) — Texas Instruments will invest more than $60 billion to expand semiconductor manufacturing in the United States, the company announced on Wednesday, as President Donald Trump continues to pressure tech giants like Apple and Samsung to build their products in America.
The investment will go towards seven semiconductor fabrication plants across Texas and Utah, resulting in more than 60,000 jobs, the company said in a press release. TI says it’s working with the Trump administration to help produce the critical chips that power everything from smartphones to data centers and cars domestically. It’s part of the White House’s push to keep the United States ahead of China in the technology industry while promoting American manufacturing.
TI, which partners with tech and auto giants like Apple, Nvidia and Ford, claims this is the “largest investment in foundational semiconductor manufacturing in US history.” –read more–

George Russell has clinched Mercedes’ first victory of the season in the Canadian Grand Prix, a race that ended in dramatic style after a collision between McLaren team mates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris that saw the latter crash out.
It had been a strong start from pole position for Russell, the Briton launching away cleanly to hold the lead from Max Verstappen. What followed was a race of different strategies across the pack, with some opting for a two-stop plan while others tried to nurse their tyres on a one-stop. –read more–

George Russell has stormed to pole position in Qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, the Mercedes man beating Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri in the final moments to take P1 on the medium tyre.
Verstappen had initially set the pace during the opening runs of Q1, but a thrilling sequence in the closing laps saw Russell topple the Red Bull driver – also on the C5 compound – by 0.160s with his effort of 1m 10.899s. Championship leader Piastri was left to settle for third in the McLaren on the soft tyres, while the other Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli slotted into fourth place.- –read more–
James Joseph Brown (May 3, 1933 – December 25, 2006) was an American singer, songwriter, dancer, musician, and record producer. The central progenitor of funk music and a major figure of 20th-century music, he is referred to by various nicknames, among them “Mr. Dynamite”, “the Hardest-Working Man in Show Business”, “Minister of New Super Heavy Funk”, “Godfather of Soul”, “King of Soul”, and “Soul Brother No. 1”.[1] In a career that lasted more than 50 years, he influenced the development of several music genres.[2] Brown was one of the first ten inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on January 23, 1986. Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016) was an American singer, songwriter, musician, and actor. Regarded as one of the most influential musicians of his generation,[7] Prince was known for his flamboyant, androgynous persona,[8][9] wide vocal range, which included a far-reaching falsetto and high-pitched screams, as well as his skill as a multi-instrumentalist, often preferring to play all or most of the instruments on his recordings.[10] His music incorporated a wide variety of styles, including funk, disco, R&B, rock, new wave, soul, synth-pop, pop, jazz, blues, and hip hop. Prince produced his albums himself, pioneering the Minneapolis sound.
Born and raised in Minneapolis, Prince signed a record deal with Warner Bros. Records at the age of 18, soon releasing the studio albums For You (1978) and Prince (1979). He went on to achieve critical success with the influential albums Dirty Mind (1980), Controversy (1981), and 1999 (1982). In 1984, Prince became the first singer to simultaneously have a number-one film, album and single in the US, with the film Purple Rain, its soundtrack and his first Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping single “When Doves Cry“. The album, recorded with his new backing band the Revolution, spent six consecutive months atop the US Billboard 200 chart[11] and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and philanthropist. Dubbed the “King of Pop“, he is regarded as one of the most culturally significant figures of the 20th century. Over a four-decade career, his music achievements broke racial barriers in America and made him a dominant figure across the world. Through songs, stages, and fashion, he proliferated visual performance for artists in popular music; popularizing street dance moves including the moonwalk, the robot, and the anti-gravity lean. Jackson is often deemed the greatest entertainer of all time based on his acclaim and records.[1]
The eighth child of the Jackson family, Michael made his public debut in 1964 at age six, as a member of the Jackson 5 (later known as the Jacksons). After signing with Motown in 1968, the band achieved worldwide success with him as its lead singer. Jackson achieved solo stardom with the release of his fifth album Off the Wall (1979). He followed it up with Thriller (1982), the best-selling album of all time, which catapulted him to a rare level of fame,[2] whilst aiding in the popularization of MTV and revolutionizing the music video medium with the videos for its title track along with “Beat It” and “Billie Jean“. CNN Business | Internet outages show signs of recovery as Spotify, Google and other popular online services are down for thousands of users
(CNN) — Multiple popular online services were hit by outages on Thursday afternoon, including Spotify, Discord, Google and Amazon Web Services, according to Downdetector, a website that tracks service disruptions across the web.
The disruptions came as service provider Cloudflare and Google Cloud experienced service disruptions. A Cloudflare representative told CNN that a Google Cloud outage was behind the issue and that its core services were not impacted.
“This is a Google Cloud outage,” a Cloudflare representative said in an email to CNN. “A limited number of services at Cloudflare use Google Cloud and were impacted. We expect them to come back shortly.”
The company also said on its system service dashboard that Cloudflare Workers KV, a data storage service, went offline “due to an outage of a 3rd party service.” –read more–

(CNN) — “God Only Knows” how respected Brian Wilson was for his talent.
The Beach Boy, whose death at the age of 82 was announced Wednesday, drew online tributes.
Paul McCartney shared a series of photos of Wilson, at least one of which was taken by McCartney’s late wife Linda McCartney, writing, “Brian had that mysterious sense of musical genius that made his songs so achingly special.”
“The notes he heard in his head and passed to us were simple and brilliant at the same time. I loved him, and was privileged to be around his bright shining light for a little while,” the caption read. “How we will continue without Brian Wilson, ‘God Only Knows’.
