F1 | Piastri wins wet-dry Belgian GP after late pressure from title rival and McLaren team mate Norris

Oscar Piastri claimed victory in the Belgian Grand Prix, holding off McLaren team mate and title rival Lando Norris in a wet-dry affair at Spa-Francorchamps to extend his Drivers’ Championship lead to 16 points.

Heavy rain ahead of the 44-lap race delayed proceedings by almost 80 minutes but once racing got underway on Lap 5, the crucial moment came immediately as Piastri got a better run on his team mate and polesitter through Eau Rouge.  read more

F1 | Verstappen takes commanding Sprint victory at Spa-Francorchamps from Piastri and Norris

Max Verstappen has clinched his first Sprint win of the season at the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, the Red Bull driver holding on for victory after making an impressive overtake on Oscar Piastri during the opening lap of action.

While Piastri initially made a solid launch to hold onto P1 off the line, Verstappen surged ahead later in the lap to take the lead. But as the Sprint entered into its second half, the Dutchman faced increasing pressure from both Piastri and the other McLaren of Lando Norris.  read more

F1 | Piastri dominates for Sprint Qualifying pole position at Spa ahead of Verstappen and Norris

Oscar Piastri took Sprint pole position ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend, beating Max Verstappen by nearly half a second as McLaren team mate Lando Norris could only salvage third.

With teams only able to use one set of soft Pirelli tyres in the final part of Qualifying, all 10 drivers waited until the final moments to head out for a one-lap shootout around the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit, with Verstappen and the two McLaren drivers favourite for top spot. read more

F1 | Verstappen takes win and Russell first podium in shortest ever Grand Prix as heavy rain hits Spa

Max Verstappen won a heavily rain-shortened Belgian Grand Prix that finished late into the evening amid torrential conditions at Spa-Francorchamps. Half points were awarded as more than two laps – but less than 75% of the race – were completed.

The 1500 scheduled start time came 30 minutes after Sergio Perez crashed on the way to his grid spot in the wet weather, with the rain showing no signs of relenting. After a 25 minute delay, a brace of formation laps behind the Safety Car followed, before Race Director Michael Masi threw the red flag.

After many more delays, the race finally resumed at 1817 local time – more than three hours after it was set to start – with the clock to tick down from one hour as Masi did everything in his control to try to get a race up and running.

But only a handful laps behind the Safety Car followed before another red flag, and Verstappen pulled back into the pits ahead of second-place Williams qualifier George Russell and third-place Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton.  --read more--

F1 | QUALIFYING: Verstappen denies Russell shock pole in dramatic wet qualifying session at Spa

Max Verstappen pumped in a sensational lap in wet conditions to take pole for the Belgian Grand Prix, usurping George Russell after the Williams delivered the performance of his life to secure a shock front row start.

It was Russell who looked to have mastered a sodden but drying Spa-Francorchamps circuit, the Williams driver building confidence through the session to set purple sectors across the board to take provisional pole at the flag.

But title contenders Lewis Hamilton and Verstappen were still on laps, with Hamilton going purple in the second sector, but losing a bit of ground in the final sector to miss out by just 0.013s.  --read more--

F1 | What tyres will the teams and drivers have for the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix?

The sprawling forest circuit of Spa-Francorchamps hosts the next round of the world championship and Pirelli have announced which tyres they will bring to the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix...

The drivers will be allocated two sets of C2 hards, three sets of C3 mediums and eight sets of C4 soft tyres in this weekend's race at Spa – the same allocation as it was last year and a step softer than 2019.

But rain is expected to fall on all three days this weekend as the championship battle resumes – Max Verstappen just eight points behind Lewis Hamilton – so wet weather tyres could be appearing as well.  --read more--
