F1 | Verstappen leads Red Bull 1-2 after Leclerc retires from rollercoaster Spanish Grand Prix

Max Verstappen won an action-packed 2022 Spanish Grand Prix as pole-sitter Charles Leclerc retired from a comfortable lead. Sergio Perez took second place to secure Red Bull’s second one-two of the season, as George Russell finished third for Mercedes, having been involved in an epic bout with eventual winner Verstappen.

Soaring temperatures weren’t the only problem on Sunday; huge gusts into Turn 4 caused both Carlos Sainz and Verstappen to go off track and drop down the order early on. That left Leclerc with a comfortable lead and a free pit stop by Lap 22, and it seemed a straightforward victory for Ferrari – until Leclerc’s engine gave way on Lap 27. -–read more

F1 | Leclerc shrugs off Q3 spin to take pole in Spain as technical issue sees Verstappen miss out

Charles Leclerc proved he could handle the heat by overcoming a spin to take pole position for the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix, as a compromised Max Verstappen lost out his own shot at pole.

After Leclerc topped Q1, Verstappen hit back with the fastest time of Q2 – with Mercedes lurking just behind the Ferrari and Red Bull throughout the first two qualifying segments. Leclerc then dramatically spun on his first run in Q3, leaving Verstappen top.  -–read more–

F1 | What tyres will the teams and drivers have for the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix?

Pirelli have nominated the hardest three compounds in their range for the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

F1's official tyre suppliers will therefore bring hard C1 tyres (x2 sets), medium C2 tyres (x3 sets) and soft C3 tyres (x8 sets) to Spain, for the Grand Prix of which Pirelli are also title sponsors.

Although pre-season running took place at this circuit in February, Pirelli have pointed out that higher track temperatures and evolved cars will make for a different picture. read more–

F1 | Late pass secures Hamilton victory in Spain after race-long battle with Verstappen

An incredible, tense race-long battle between Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton saw Hamilton triumph for his sixth Spanish Grand Prix win, the reigning world champion brilliantly executing a two-stop strategy to claim his third win in four races this season, as Verstappen finished ahead of the second Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas.

Verstappen led the majority of the race after brilliantly snatching the lead from Hamilton into Turn 1 at the start, with Red Bull then committing to a one-stop strategy around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, as Hamilton opted for two.

But with six laps to go, Hamilton used the superior performance of his newer tyres to pass the Dutchman into Turn 1 and check out for his 98th victory, and fifth straight win at the circuit – Verstappen ultimately deciding to pit for softs once Hamilton was past and go for a consolation fastest lap, which he duly got.  --read more--

F1 | 100th pole ‘feels like one of the first’, says Hamilton as he explains how he overcame balance issues to edge Verstappen

According to the Briton, who edged out championship rival Max Verstappen by just 0.036s, the landmark moment not only felt as sweet as his first, it was made all the sweeter for the handling issues he had to overcome during the session to score it.

You have to go back nearly 14 years for Hamilton’s first pole, in Canada, driving for McLaren. Would anyone have imagined then he’d go on to achieve what he has? Hamilton thinks not.  --read more--
