F1 | Sainz converts pole into maiden Grand Prix victory at Silverstone after scintillating race
Ferrari's Carlos Sainz has claimed his first Formula 1 victory after a breath-taking contest at the British Grand Prix, the Spaniard finishing ahead of the Red Bull of Sergio Perez and the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton.
Key to Sainz’s victory was a late Safety Car caused by Esteban Ocon retiring his Alpine – Sainz then attacking team mate Charles Leclerc on fresh tyres at the restart to claim P1 and check out for his first win on his 150th Grand Prix start. –read more–

F1 | Sainz pips Verstappen to take maiden pole in wet British Grand Prix qualifying
A masterful lap in a wet British Grand Prix qualifying saw Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz claim his maiden pole position in Formula 1, as he beat the Red Bull of Max Verstappen, who’d led much of the session.
Rain had begun falling on Silverstone just minutes before qualifying began, with Verstappen comfortably heading both Q1 and Q2. Verstappen was then leading Q3 in the final moments when Sainz unleashed his final lap to stop the clocks at 1m 40.983 and take P1 with an effort he described in disbelief as “terrible”. On the weekend of his 150th Grand Prix start, though, terrible did very nicely indeed. –read more–

F1 | What tyres will the teams and drivers have for the 2022 British Grand Prix?
Pirelli have nominated the three hardest tyres in their range for this weekend’s 2022 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
F1’s official tyre suppliers will allocate the same range of tyres that were last used for the Spanish Grand Prix, with the teams set to be able to call upon the hard C1 (x2 sets), the medium C2 (x3 sets), and the soft C3 compounds (x8 sets) for Silverstone. –read more–

F1 | Hamilton overcomes first-lap collision with Verstappen to hunt down Leclerc for 8th British GP win
Lewis Hamilton overcame first lap contact with title rival Max Verstappen and a 10-second penalty to take an eighth British Grand Prix win at Silverstone, passing Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc – who led the majority of the race – with just three laps of the race to go, as the second Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas took P3.
Hamilton and Verstappen had sparred spectacularly throughout the first half lap of the Grand Prix, but made contact at Copse when Hamilton tried to pass up the inside into the fast sweeping corner, with Verstappen spinning hard into the barriers and out of the race – with Hamilton handed a 10-second penalty for the collision.
But a committed recovery from Hamilton saw him close down the gap to Leclerc in the final stages of the race, Hamilton passing the Monegasque driver on Lap 50 of 52 to take an emotional victory in front of an ecstatic British Grand Prix crowd – with the reigning champion closing the gap to Verstappen in the title race to just eight points. --read more--

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has won the inaugural F1 Sprint at the iconic Silverstone circuit, earning himself three points and pole position for Sunday’s British Grand Prix, as he triumphed over the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.
With all of the top 10 starting the 17-lap F1 Sprint on medium tyres bar the Mercedes of Bottas on used softs, Verstappen was incisive off the start from second on the grid, out-dragging the Mercedes of Hamilton – who’d started P1 – into Abbey, despite flames having been spotted licking from his front-left wheel on the grid.
Fans were then treated to a thrilling opening lap, with Verstappen resisting the passing attempts of Hamilton – including an audacious one to go around the outside of the Red Bull at Copse – while Fernando Alonso impressively used the soft starting tyres on his Alpine to jump from 11th to 5th, as the two Haas cars of Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin touched in the Village complex, with Mazepin spinning. --read more--

There will be no reverse grid at this weekend's British Grand Prix
This coming weekend at Silverstone, F1 is boldly ripping up the standard weekend format and trying something new: F1 Sprint. This flat-out 100km event will take place on Saturday – between qualifying and the race on the schedule – with the result setting the grid for the Grand Prix on Sunday.

F1 | Hamilton digs deep to beat Verstappen in qualifying and seal top grid slot for F1 Sprint
Lewis Hamilton put in a sensational qualifying lap to light up Silverstone and ensure he will start the first-ever F1 Sprint from P1 ahead of title rival Max Verstappen.
This historic Friday evening qualifying session, which sets the grid for the first-ever F1 Sprint on Saturday as opposed to Sunday’s British Grand Prix itself, saw the drivers giving it their all for P1 on soft tyres only - as per the regulations on this experimental weekend.
Mercedes may have taken nine of the last nine pole positions available at this track but Verstappen fired the first shot for Red Bull, topping Q1 by 0.035s ahead of Hamilton. But Hamilton bounced back in Q2, his time there nearly a half a second faster than Verstappen’s. That left the 90,000-strong crowd salivating for Q3 in the evening sunshine. --read more--

The Pirelli tire allocations for the FORMULA 1 BRITISH GRAND PRIX 2021 are: (See chart on left.)
History will be made at Silverstone this weekend with the first F1 Sprint to be held on Saturday ahead of the British Grand Prix on Sunday, and Pirelli have now announced which tyres they will be bringing to the race.
Not only will Pirelli bring more tyres to account for F1 Sprint this weekend, they will also be implementing the new, more robust rear construction that was tested in practice for the Austrian Grand Prix. This will be used from the British Grand Prix until the end of the season. --read more--
